Industrial Site Remediation
& Compliance

Problem Nature and Extent

Aries conducted an environmental liabilities evaluation at a steel manufacturing facility on behalf of the prospective purchaser prior to a potential property transaction.

During Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) activities, we observed metals at concentrations in site soil exceeding applicable soil standards. We also conducted a multi-media environmental compliance audit and observed several deficiencies.

Solution

  1. Aries assisted the client with property transaction environmental issues prior to acquiring ownership of the parcel including providing oversight of the former owner’s remedial actions, registering oil storage vessels, transferring applicable environmental permits, preparing an air permit application, and obtaining a National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater permit.

  2. We assisted the client with enrollment in the NHDES Brownfields Program.

  3. We prepared a New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) Minimum Impact Expedited Wetland Permit Application, NHDES Standard Dredge and Fill Wetland Permit Application, a NHDES Significant Alteration of Terrain (AoT) Permit Application, and provided technical support for the City of Claremont site plan review and local permit process for planned site construction activities following acquisition of the property.
