NHDES Issues Leaching-Based Soil Remediation Standards for PFAS

PFAS SRS NHDES

On December 24, 2024, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) adopted Soil Remediation Standards (SRS) for four per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) under the NHDES Contaminated Site Management Rules (Chapter Env-Or 600).

The four regulated PFAS and their respective SRS (in micrograms per kilogram, or parts per billion (ppb)) are:

  • Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) at 0. 4 ppb;

  • Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) at 0. 5 ppb;

  • Perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS) at 0. 4 ppb; and

  • Perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) at 1.3 ppb

 NHDES provides more information at their NHDES PFAS Response Website.
